About the Artist - Dean Lee Uhlinger
A
native of Southern California, Dean received his photographic education in the “school
of experience,” beginning at the age of 13 when he started taking pictures
with his father’s 35mm camera.
Growing up in the Southwest, Dean fell in love with the landscapes of California, Arizona, and the deserts of Sonora, Mojave, Death Valley, and Anza Borrego. He eventually roamed farther afield to explore and capture images in Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado. The Red Rock Canyon country of the Colorado Plateau in southern Utah and northern Arizona is one of his favorite wilderness areas to explore and record on film.
Desert Light, published in 1993 by Chronicle Books, was
his first book project.
Copies
of this book are still available from the author. Email
Dean for more information.
Other works have been seen in publications such as Outdoor Photographer, TV Guide, and Narada Media (music CD cover), to name just a few.
Corbis, a leading stock photography company, offers a selection of his images on numerous CDs, as well as individually, and those images are available for purchase via the Internet at www.corbisimages.com.
